Family Stories
A potpourri of stories about various family members or events
Lists
Today, I was working on adding data to a developing story on a list of accidents and illnesses that I have had (arranged chronologically). As I was adding some content, I realized that a fair number of my accidents were related to biking, and it reminded me of the number of bike trips that I have had over the years. So I started outlining the basics of my bike trips, some of which have already been described on other websites. It also reminded me of when I was in about third grade, and I took out all the books that the library had on birds. I then made lists of all of the birds that I could find. I only organized them alphabetically, since it was the simplest for me (at the time - though in hindsight it makes the least sense). I had a page for each letter of the alphabet, and when a page was filled, I started another page. Looking back, I see that I have been a "list person" who has chronicled things for some time. Even in the stories that I have written thus far, many of them have already been a list of items or one item in a list that needs to be prepared.
To that end, I have below a list of lists. I will have the URL and then a description of the list. The description will also indicate how complete the list is. At least for now, the list will start with those that are complete or quite nearly complete and work down to those that are less so.
- We are Immigrants
- Here, I list and describe my eight great-grandparents. I ask if each is an immigrant, and if not, how much further back does one need to go to find the immigrant.
- Memories from grades 1-12
- This story recalls some memories that I have from my first 12 years of education in school
- How They Met
- This is about how various relatives of mine met, currently including my wife and me, my parents, my paternal grandparents, and my maternal grandparents.
- Homes where I lived
- This list gives the places that I have lived from birth to current, and then a description or details of each location. Of course, this begs for a definition of "lived", and this is given on this page. It is currently outlined fairly well, but details are still missing.
- Bike Trips
- This chronological list gives information about the different bike trips that I have taken (with "bike trip" defined within). It is currently outlined fairly well, but details are missing.
- Accidents and Medical Situations
- This chronological list gives information about accidents that I have had or medical situations that have arisen. It is currently outlined partially, but most details are missing.
- Name Continuity
- This is an early start of showing how a name of a person might continue down to that person's children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, or further. Using my family, I illustrate some situations. A topic like this could go on for a long time, but right now, there is just one full example (or two, depending on what you are counting).
- trips taken
- Just an idea at this point
- Jobs that I have had
- Just an idea at this point
- Cars that I have had
- Just an idea at this point
- Schools that I have attended
- Just an idea at this point
