Genealogy Information - By Name

Instructions, if needed, are given below this form. (Don't overlook the Database-generated Biography option. See description of all record types below.)

NOTE: if you just want to search for a particular name (or part of a name), either first or last (or middle or married), use the Name Search menu item. This will return a list of names (with links to additional information) of the names with the name of interest.

Fields with * are required.

First, choose a focus name for which information is sought. If you have logged in, all names in the database are listed; if not, only those who are deceased will be listed.

Second, choose how broad of a net to cast. If you are only interested in the person chosen, choose the first checkbox. Otherwise, choose as many categories of relationships as desired, keeping in mind that the broader the net, the larger the catch (which may mean more wading through looking for the record(s) sought).

Third, choose which type of records or information to view. Selecting "All Records" is the same as choosing each of the other options. Then choose submit.

Finally, keep in mind that the records revealed may be reduced for several reasons: (a) The number of records are only as good as what I have done in adding and assigning properties. I may have not yet added all records or processed all of them. (b) If you are viewing these records without having logged in, they will only show those that pertain to those who have deceased (except censuses names given in obituaries). If you are a relative, logging will show all the records. Use the Contact menu item to check with me about gaining access, if you do not yet have access.

Some descriptions of the types of records listed above:

  • All records - this is the same as checking all the rest of the boxes
  • Births - this will list basic birth information in the database for all the people of focus

Note that some states do not have these readily available and most states did not start requiring these until 1900-1915 (varies by state). County records tend to be better but there is a wide range of dates for when these were collected and these are generally not as readily available.
